

Widow Corney is the unkind Matron of the orphanage where Oliver lives. She wins Mr. Bumble's affections by flaunting her 'kittens'.
Training: Born in Stoke-on-Trent, Claire began her professional career at 12 as July in Annie (UK tour) directed by Peter Walker, who gave her one of her first roles after graduating from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, Isobel in The Pirates of Penzance (tour).
Theatre includes: Mamie Eisenhower in The First Lady Suite (Union Theatre), Tim’s Mother and Asphynixsia in Salad Days (Riverside Studios and concert version at Bristol Old Vic) and originating in the UK the role of Ms Darbus in High School Musical (UK tour). She originated the role of Miss Lark in Mary Poppins (Bristol Hippodrome and Prince Edward) and also performed as Miss Andrew, Mrs Brill and Mrs Corry. Also, Clara Eynsford-Hill in Trevor Nunn’s My Fair Lady (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), Lilly in Red Peppers directed by Matt Ryan (King’s Head), Flipotte in The Green Parakeet (Greenwich Studio), My Fair Lady directed Simon Callow (UK tour), Charlotte in Oliver! (London Palladium), understudy Eponine, returning to understudy and play Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables (Palace) and Claire Machin Alone – An Old Fashioned Love Story directed by Peter O’Neill (Talk of London).
Television includes: EastEnders, Vanity Fair, Miss Marple, The Ritz and Sunday Night at the Palladium.
Other work includes: solo concert performances, voiceovers and television commercials. Claire has also been working on projects including devising and writing a children’s animation and other writing commissions.
